How elections are certified

The Fair Elections Act sets provisions on how elections are made binding. After a general election's results are published, there's a 24-hour period where disputes can be brought forth to the Assembly.

For an election to be made legally binding, the validity of the voting process must have been accepted as free and fair by the Assembly.

Disputes which are found to have merit invalidate the election and cause a special election to be held.

If no disputes are being investigated by the end of the 24-hour period, the election results are made binding.
