Your rights

Osolians are guaranteed certain fundamental rights through the constitution.


Article 7 of the Osolian Constitution describes the "absolute rights" all Osolians hold. It applies to both citizens and residents.


Freedom of expression

You hold the right to express your opinions without interference or retaliation from the government.


Right to petition

You hold the right to gather a consensus on a matter and be heard by the government.


Freedom of religion and conscience

You hold the right to practice any religion or support any political ideas without interference or retaliation from the government.


Right to not be discriminated against

You hold the right to not be discriminated against in any context; all Osolians should be granted the same rights, liberties, and opportunities.


Right to vote

You can vote in any particular way or at all without interference or retaliation from the government.


Right to a fair and speedy trial

You hold the right to have a speedy and fair trial and to be granted a lawyer if you cannot provide one.


Self-incrimination

You can withhold any incriminating information from government officials and other officers of the law during arrests and interrogations.


Double jeopardy

You cannot be tried twice for the same crime (excluding appellate trials).


Right to appeal

You hold the right to request an appellate trial.


Ex post facto

You cannot not be tried retroactively or ex post facto, i.e. you cannot be punished for an act that was not illegal at the time.
